Celtic Winter Gathering returns Jan. 18

The Celtic Winter Gathering (CWG) will include many unforgettable performances this Saturday, Jan. 18, at 7 pm at All Souls Interfaith Gathering (ASIG) in Shelburne.

The concert debuts with the Young Tradition Vermont Touring Group of players, singers, and dancers. Eighteen talented teenagers will perform Fiddle tunes, original and shape note songs, and contra dances. CWG will also include Vermont’s own Celtic Company, a dance troupe made up of local up-and-coming dancers of Irish Step, Highland Dance, and Cape Breton Step Dance. A Scottish Highland dance competition at will also take place at ASIG from 10 am-3 pm.

Tea, scones, soup, and sandwiches will be available for purchase. Workshops available throughout the weekend include LED Sparkle Skirt construction with Charlotte Pierce and Tartan Weaving with master Kilt Maker Judy Sullivan from 4-6 pm at ASIG. Evening performance tickets are available at www.flynntix.org or by calling 863-5966.
