Vermont Cats offer skills clinic

Fundraiser will help cover costs to Nationals

The Vermont Cats 8th grade basketball team and coach Otley, head girls basketball coach at Champlain Valley Union (CVU), will offer a skills clinic on Monday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 20 from 6-8 pm at Champlain Valley Union High School.

The clinics are for girls entering grades 3-8. Players, teams, and coaches are welcome to attend. Both sessions will consist of drills used regularly by the team, tailored to the skill level of the participants. Monday’s session will focus on offensive drills, and Wednesday’s session will focus on defensive drills. Both sessions will also include 3-on-3 play in which the participants team up with Cats players to learn movement without the ball, how to execute an effective pick and roll, and how to defend as a team.

The fee to attend is $40 per player. All proceeds will be used to cover the costs of the Vermont Cats to attend the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 8th Grade National Tournament this July in Orlando, Fla. Checks, accepted at the door, should be made payable to Vermont Cats.

To register, email coach Otley at uteotley@hotmail.com. Please include the participant’s name and grade. Payment and waivers will be handled at the door. If you have questions, please contact coach Otley at 425-6549.
