Davis Studio camps nurture creativity

The motto for Davis Studio is, “classes to foster your creativity.” Nestled in the South End arts district of Burlington, instructors at Davis Studio work to do exactly that: nurture and encourage the creative expressions of those who attend. Children, teenagers, and adults alike are invited to explore classes and camps, which range from drawing, and painting to mixed media, theatre, clay and fused glass. A series of workshops has been recently introduced linking art and future career choices for teens, in fields such as the fashion industry, interior design, graphic design, and small business.

Summers are dedicated to a series of week-long camps, which run from mid June through August. Each week new camps begin, with exciting themes such as Treehouse Architecture, Artsy Chef, Fashion Design, Comedy Club, Matisse and the Wild Beasts, Extraordinary Sculpture and many others. Students use a variety of two and three-dimensional materials, along with a whole lot of imagination, to create painted canvases, sculptures, costume pieces, models, books and other individualized projects. Friday afternoon of each camp is reserved for a reception, where families and friends are invited to view the week’s finished projects, and perhaps even watch a performance or fashion show.

Teens who are looking for a creative outlet this summer can find it in one of the 10 summer camps designed for teens. They can participate in a Graffiti camp where they will paint an outdoor mural, come to “Draw the Runway” a Fashion Illustration camp or get a jump start on an art portfolio in the Studio Arts camp.

Teresa Davis of North Ferrisburgh founded Davis Studio in 2003, with a focus on children and a personal desire to respect each student as “an artist with his or her own unique style and unlimited potential.” That enthusiasm is carried on by the variety of artists and educators who teach with Teresa in the studio.

Summer camps are filling quickly, so if you want to join the creative fun visit them online at www.davisstudiovt.com or call (802) 425-2700.
