Shelburne businessman appointed to Governor’s Business Advisory Council

Gregg Beldock of Charlotte, owner and operator of Bullrock Corporation and The Lodges Senior Living Communities was recently appointed to Governor Shumlin’s Business Advisory Council.  This council provides the Governor with advice and information on financing a publicly funded health care system and relies on the business experience of its 21-member council, who represent a geographically diverse mix of small and large business owners.

The goal of the council “is to ensure that [the] single payer [health care system] is implemented as the governor plans in a timely way in 2017, with all risks to the Vermont economy identified, considered and managed,” said Lawrence Miller, Shumlin’s secretary of Commerce and Community Development. The “Governor’s Business Advisory Council on Health Care Financing,” as it is called, is charged with helping the governor and the administration determine where those dollars should come from. The council, Miller said, is “pragmatic.”

Governor Peter Shumlin explains “Government works best when everyone has a seat at the table. I am always looking for qualified, passionate citizens to serve on Vermont’s Boards and Commissions. Serving our state as a board or commission member is a critical part of the process and a great way to get involved.” Beldock is honored to be a part of this esteemed group of individuals.

In addition to Beldock the other 20 members of the council are:
