Going out for coffee on Saturday morning? A good cup of coffee could do a world of good. Mane Alves of Vermont Artisan Tea & Coffee will conduct a coffee tasting for aficionados of the bean this Saturday morning at Maglianero’s alongside Food 4 Farmers representatives and a showing of the documentary film “After the Harvest.” Food 4 Farmers board members and authors Bill Mares and Rick Peyser (Director of Social Advocacy and Community Outreach for Green Mountain Coffee Roasters), will also hold a book signing for their newly released book, “Brewing Change, Behind the Bean at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.”
One hundred percent of the authors’ earnings and 10 percent of Wind Ridge Publishing’s net profits from the sale of “Brewing Change” will benefit Food 4 Farmers, the non-profit organization co-founded by Rick Peyser, Janice Nadworny, and Marcela Pino. Food 4 Farmers strives to help rural coffee-farming families find lasting solutions to food scarcity and seasonal hunger. “Brewing Change” tells the inspiring story of Rick Peyser’s 24-year GMCR career, and his quiet, dogged crusade to change the world of coffee—persistently advocating for better quality of life in coffee-farming communities. “Brewing Change” is a story that shows us the indomitable nature of the human spirit and reminds us of the dramatic change that is possible when individuals work for an equitable world. The book chronicles Peyser’s compelling personal journey and offers a fascinating insider’s view of one of the most successful companies in the coffee business.
