On a beautiful day, on an early summer afternoon, June 7, 2012, Rhoda passed away. She was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Bradford, Pa., to Anna and George Worden. It was in Bradford that Rhoda met and fell in love with Linus Wiles Sr. They wed soon after he returned from Civilian Conservation Corps duties. Linus took a job with Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, N.Y. The company opened a facility in Burlington in the early phase of W.W.II and fortunately, Rhoda and Linus chose to relocate in Vermont, a decision both they and their two sons have been ever so thankful for. Among her survivors are her sons, Linus Jr. and wife, Sue, of Shelburne, and Kenneth and wife, Joanne, of South Hero; grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Only with the total dedication of her grandniece, Diana Charland and husband, Al, was Rhoda able to live out her final years to age 93 at her home in South Burlington. At Rhoda’s request, there will be no visiting hours or service. A private family memorial service will be held in South Hero.
