The aroma of a good old-fashioned chicken barbecue will again waft through the town of Shelburne at the annual chicken barbecue and auction held at the Methodist Church this Wednesday, July 4. Besides the tasty chicken on the menu, auctioneer Tom Young will start the auction at 10 am. Local merchants have donated merchandise and gift certificates and residents have donated gently used furniture and other household goods.
There will also be a white elephant sale in the Church’s Fellowship Hall, featuring used merchandise that amounts to a gigantic town-wide garage sale. The day’s events will be held rain or shine, with the doors to the white elephant sale opening at 9 am. The BBQ will begin serving at 11:30 am and will be served until the chicken runs out, usually around 2, so come early. Lunch for adults is $12, children under 12 are $6.The church is located on the corner of Route 7 and the Parade ground.
