Police seek information on burglaries in town

Attempted Grand Larceny at Days Inn
On Monday, June 25, the Shelburne Police were summoned to the Days Inn on Shelburne Road for reports of a theft from a motor vehicle. While en route, police were informed the victim was in the process of chasing a male suspect south on Rte. 7. The male was described as possibly Hispanic, approximately 5’5 to 5’ 10 inches, with black hair, black tee shirt and wearing shorts. The male had taken a suitcase from the victim’s car while she was attempting to check in at the hotel. The victim and two other passerbys chased the suspect south on Rte. 7. The suspect dropped the suitcase and continued running south, and was seen getting into a vehicle in the Bay Road area. The vehicle was described as a late model tan minivan with South Carolina plate HZL336. The vehicle was last seen heading west on Bay Road, and may have been occupied by up to four other individuals.
School burglarized in Shelburne…twice
On Friday, June 22, the Shelburne Police Department was notified of a burglary at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School. It appears the burglary occurred during the late evening on June 21 or during the early morning hours of June 22. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the building.
On June 25, the Shelburne Police Department was notified of a second burglary at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School. It appears the burglary occurred during the late evening hours on June 24 or during the early morning hours of June 25. At this time it is not sure if anything had been taken. During the course of this burglary, several doors were forced open inside the school, causing a substantial amount of damage.
