Soaking Sound Sense, 2011, Oil / Acrylic / Metallic Luster on Wood, 2’ X 2’

The Main Street Landing Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new works by Lin Warren, “Light + Arc,” July 6 through Sept. 2. The exhibition will kick off with an opening reception Friday, July 6, 6-8 pm, during First Friday Art Walk.

“Light + Arc” is a selection of current work that employs textural form and reflective surfaces to define rigorous contrast. Currently, the “arc” has been Warren’s main focus of the ideology. Manipulation of material has always been her focus, taking the materials’ natural flexibility to their innate limits. The content of Warren’s work can be a complexity of color, texture, and form although the manipulation of material(s) quite simplistic. Her background in printmaking
brings forth an elevated awareness of the power of a print as an incorporation of applied textural line and form. Lin Warren’s work is deliberate, surprising and bold.

After receiving her BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology, she furthered her major interest in printmaking at an aluminum plate lithography workshop given by Tamarind Institute in New Mexico. Her interest in making “impressions” led her to study at the de Jung Museum in San Francisco. During the 1970s and 1980s, before taking a hiatus to raise a family, she exhibited in a large sector of American galleries; won may significant awards; and added to the collections of many art patrons.

During the hiatus years, Warren continued to experiment with materials and applications of established and discovered techniques. She founded The West Milford Artists’ Association in New Jersey, infecting others with her exuberance, dedication, and love of making art. Currently, she instructs senior citizens in fine art and applied craft. She has newly joined Shelburne Pond Studios where she works and holds classes.
