University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt.

Madeline A. Pomicter of Shelburne was recently awarded a National Merit Scholarship. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

University of Hartford, Hartford, Conn.

Nora Kaszubowski of Shelburne, earned her degree on Sunday, May 18. Kaszubowski earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University’s College of Arts and Sciences. She was also named to its Dean’s List for spring 2014.

Bentley University, Waltham, Mass.

Shelburne resident Sydney Bouchard, received a Bachelor of Science degree with a Double Major in Marketing and Liberal Arts, from the University on May 17, 2014.

Boston University, Boston, Mass.

Samantha A. Kassel, a resident of Shelburne was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester.

Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y.

Ethan Mick of Shelburne, who is in the software engineering program in RIT’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, made the Dean’s List for the spring 2013-2014 semester.

Castleton State College, Castleton, Vt.

Molly Howard of Shelburne was recently named to the President’s List for the spring semester of the 2013-14 academic year.

Shelburne resident Nicholas Monell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science following the successful completion of the spring semester in May 2014. Monell also was named to the College’s Dean’s List for the spring semester.

Wake Forest University, Winston Salem, N.C.

Holly Thayer from Shelburne was named to the University’s spring 2014 Dean’s List.

Roger Williams University, Bristol, R.I.

Cayla McCarthy, a resident of Shelburne, has been named to the University’s spring 2014 Dean’s List. Cayla is an English/Education major.

Bryant University, Smithfield, R.I.

Shelburne’s Matthew Levinsky, a senior in Marketing, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2014 semester.

Williston Northampton School, Easthampton, Mass.

Alec Johnson of Shelburne, a member of the Class of 2014, achieved High Honors for the third trimester of the 2013-14 academic year.

Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn.

Shelburne resident Wells Griffin was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2014 semester.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston, R.I.

Brian Cherhoniak of Shelburne received a Bachelor of Arts, Communication Studies, Minor, General Business at the 128th Commencement May 17-18, 2014.

Colby College, Waterville, Maine

Two Shelburne residents were among 472 seniors that received Bachelor of Arts degrees at the College’s 193rd Commencement on May 25, 2014.

S. Hayden Carpenter, the son of Scott and Lisa Carpenter of Shelburne, majored in biology with a neuroscience concentration.

John P. Dixon, the son of Samuel and Anne Dixon of Shelburne, majored in mathematics and physics.
