Bark for Life returns Aug. 1

The American Cancer Society will host Bark For Life, an event that brings dog owners and their pets together in the fight against cancer, Friday, Aug. 1 and it’s not too late to get involved. This non-competitive 1.5 mile walkathon will raise vital funds for the American Cancer Society while celebrating the special bond between people and their dogs.

July-3-PET-Bark-for-Life-SCThis annual event will take place at Technology Park in South Burlington. Registration begins at 5pm, and the walk will take place from 6-8pm. In addition to the scenic walk, the event will feature a variety of fun activities for dogs and owners alike, such as a training demonstration, an owner/dog look-a-like contest, and a dog trick contest. There will also be prizes for the top fundraising dogs. Team photos will take place at the Whale Tails!

Bark For Life is a community event that will honor the caregiving qualities of our canine friends. “We know that many dog lovers have experienced cancer firsthand,” said Mary Donald-Abair, last year’s Bark For Life Chair. “Bark For Life is an opportunity for people to join the fight against cancer while also acknowledging how much our dogs do for us.”

Teams and individual walkers are welcome. Advance registration is $10 per person/dog with the commitment to raise additional funds for the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society. All registered dogs will receive a Bark For Life bandana, while participants who raise at least $100 will get a Bark For Life T-shirt. According to the American Cancer Society website, 14 teams are registered and 1,515 has been raised to date.
