Shelburne’s 11/12 All Star baseball team came out swinging! The boys wrapped up an undefeated first round in the District 1 tournament Monday night, July 2. They won five straight games beginning with Charlotte (14-4), Middlebury (8-2), Burlington American (14-4 in four innings), Center City (7-2), and North Burlington (20-5 in four innings).
The All Stars’ clean sweep gives them top seed recognition in the next double elimination round, set to begin this weekend. Shelburne will face off Sunday at 1:15 pm at Schifilliti Park in Burlington. The team’s opponent will be determined in a Saturday game between Williston and Middlebury.
Manager Wright Caswell says the next round will produce some tough competition, but notes the Shelburne team has 12 solid players who have displayed stellar pitching, catching, hitting, and fielding. “These boys have really gelled as a team and we’re very proud of their outstanding play and great show of sportsmanship,” said Caswell.
This year’s 11/12 All Star team includes: David Johnson, Paul Keen, Hank Caswell, Sam Noel, Collin Vincent, Jack Scotnicki, Scott Stanley, Brandon Donohue, Trevor Mitiguy, Connor Rushford, and Garrett Dunn. Assistant coaches are Rob Mitiguy and Jim Carroll.
