Community Emergency Response Training available

Aug-1-T-CERT-Training-Logo-CTThe Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is holding training for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT members are trained to be prepared to take care of themselves and others during an emergency and assist local emergency response agencies.
Vermont residents age 18 or older or youth accompanied by a parent or guardian are invited to participate in a free two-day course that covers emergency preparedness in the home, at work, and on the road; first aid; fire safety; light search and rescue; disaster psychology, and more.
Participants will also have the opportunity to explore future courses and certification on shelter management, traffic control, First Aid and CPR, and hazardous materials awareness. The training session is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 17 and Monday, Aug. 18 at the Colchester Center Fire Department located at 483 Main Street in Colchester. The sessions run from 8am to 5pm.
