Social Band celebrates summertime in song

Aug-2-A-Social-Band-SC-copyJoin Social Band, Burlington’s lively band of singers, for a program that celebrates everything feathered, buzzing, and verdant in these delightful months of summer. This 20-member group, known for its thoughtful mixture of genres, will sing a program encompassing the ancient, modern, classical, and “folksy” on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7:30pm at the Old Round Church in Richmond. This performance features the works of celebrated Vermont composers Tom Cleary, Sara Doncaster, Don Jamison, and Colin McCaffrey, in addition to several pieces by 17th century madrigal masters.
Unfamiliar with Social Band? This Burlington-based chorus presents a cappella choral music to the public, encourages new compositions especially by local composers, and fosters the joyful and thought-provoking expression of music. Social Band organizes its programs around themes, weaving poetry and song to create an experience that feeds listeners’ hearts and heads.  And, while they take the power of music very seriously, they tend to take ourselves a little less so, bringing a sense of exuberance and fun to their singing.
Join Social Band for some delightful music on Aug. 23 in Richmond. Suggested donation $15 at the door.
