At its meeting on Aug. 6, the Development Review Board (DRB) quickly approved two applications, one by the Heartworks and Renaissance Schools for an infant day care center, and another for a boundary line adjustments for two properties under common ownership at 135 Northside Drive.
The Heartworks Schools is a current tenant of the Shelburne Commons development, serving 66 preschool children in Buildings B and D. They applied for an amendment to the site plan and an amendments to an existing conditional use approval to include an infant care center in the currently vacant Building C. They hope to serve some 44 children too young for their pre-K program. Both would operate five days a week, with early drop offs beginning at 7:30am and the last pick up at 5:30pm. The DRB approved the amendments.
The second application was for a transfer of approximately .18 acre from Lot 6 to the adjoining Lot 7 at 135 Northside Drive, the former site of Climb High, in order to meet the side yard setback requirement for a proposed addition to the existing building on Lot 6. The DRB approved the application. In a related matter, the owners then applied for conditional use and site plan approval for adding on to the existing building on Lot 6 and erecting a new structure on the currently empty Lot 7. The buildings would be used for warehousing with some office space. Once constructed, the owners intend to sell the buildings and the use might change. In that case, the new owners would have to obtain approval from the DRB. The DRB continued consideration of this application to their next meeting on Aug. 20, asking the applicants to provide a more detailed landscaping plan that would include adequate screening between the buildings and the residential properties on the north.
The next meeting of the DRB will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 7pm in the Municipal Center.
