Stanley Steamers visit Shelburne Museum
|July 11, 2012||Filled under Education||
A dozen steam powered cars, commonly known as Stanley Steamers, line up at the Shelburne Museum on Monday, July 9. The group arrived from Stowe where the Eastern Invitational of the Steam Automobile Club of America is based July 8-14. The drive to and from Stowe took extensive planning because the cars only get one mile to the gallon of water, travel at approximately 35 miles per hour, and must stop frequently to fill up.
