The 30th annual girls and the 38th annual boys Lions Twin State Soccer Cup matches will take place at 4 pm followed by the boys matches on July 21 at Sodexho Field at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H. The best of this year’s graduated high school boys and girls soccer players for Vermont include Champlain Valley Union’s Chad Bateman, Todd Forrester, Ben Comai, Sienna Searles, and Sara Lewis.
The first Lions Twin State soccer match was played in 1975 at Middlebury College between the boys of Vermont and New Hampshire. In 1983 the girls of New Hampshire and Vermont were added to the showcase. Since the inception of the Lions Twin State Soccer Association, over 3,000 men and women have been honored by their selection to participate. Not only is it a venue for the athletes to exhibit their talents but it also helps support Vermont Lions Charities for the benefit of Austine Green Mountain Lions Hearing Impaired Camp.
