Olivia Cuneo, Ethan Naylor of Charlotte, Michaela Siegel, and Alice Downey of Hinesburg strike a pose during an improv theater session at last week’s Young Writers summer camp at the Writers’ Barn in Shelburne.

5-day camp session: Aug. 6-10, 9 am-noon. Ages 10-15. $150

After a successful first session at the Writers’ Barn, Wind Ridge will offer an additional summer camp for young writers. Children and young adults are natural storytellers, and summer break is the perfect time for relaxed reading, writing, and storytelling. Each morning will include a variety of writing-based activities and prompts in diverse areas coupled with hands-on art projects and outdoor activities. The sessions are designed for all students, not just those who have already found a love for reading and writing. New curriculum added for returning campers. The Writers’ Barn summer camps will build confidence, provide real audiences, and give young writers the chance to keep their skills sharp over the summer.

WRP’s Writers’ Barn instructor Emily Copeland has taught writing at Saint Michael’s College, been a literary assistant for novelist John Irving, has participated in Champlain College’s Young Writers Conferences, and coached middle school students in soccer and skiing.
