A Vermont Cats U16 girls AAU basketball team, comprising players from Champlain Valley Union High School and Burlington High School, played in the 2012 AAU Girls Basketball National Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World in Orlando, Florida July 11-14.

The team had previously won the 2012 Division 2 AAU State Championship, which made them eligible to represent Vermont at this prestigious national event.

Posting an overall record of 3 and 3, the team faced stiff competition from around the continent, beating teams from South Carolina, Newfoundland, and Connecticut, and being bested by teams from Ohio, Virginia, and New York.

The team thanks local businesses Shelburne Supermarket and Aubuchon Hardware for their support of team fundraising efforts.
