Exciting summer programs continue in the youth area

I Dreamed I was in Candy Land: This afternoon, Thursday, August 9 at 1 pm. Join us at the library to play our life-size Candy Land game. Complete a challenge at each station for prizes that will satisfy your sweet tooth. No registration is necessary for this program.

The World Famous Mr. Woodhead visits the library: Stop by on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 1 pm for a stellar performance by Charlotte’s own Mr. Woodhead. Want a preview of Woodhead’s antics? Check out the award winning “Woodhead Saves the Farm” available in the Charlotte Library video section.

Head’s up to Summer Reading Participants: If you are you working toward reaching your reading goal and recording the titles of your summer reading adventures, remember that soon it will be time to redeem your reading logs for prizes. Most importantly, the reading competition for the Nook will end at library’s closing on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Reading logs must be submitted by that date to be eligible.

Reminder for library Scrabble players: There will be no Thursday Scrabble games until Thursday, Sept. 6.

Museum Passes at the Pierson Library: All you need is a valid Pierson Library card to check out one of our many great museum passes. These passes are available thanks to the generosity of the Pierson Library Friends Board. Feel free to ask any library staff person for help if you have questions about the passes, or call the library at 985-5124.

August’s featured book display: Wondering what to read next? Do you want to know the books that local book groups are reading? Want some new ideas for your book group? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, next time you visit the library check out this month’s featured book display entitled “Book Group Picks.”
