The Vermont Department of Health is inviting public comments as Healthy Vermonters 2020, a comprehensive set of 10-year goals for improving the overall health of the state, is developed and finalized by public health, healthcare, and human services professionals.
The Vermont Department of Health has posted a draft plan on its website: http://healthvermont.gov/pubs/hv2020/ and is soliciting public comments through Aug. 31.
“All suggestions and comments, whether broad or specific, are welcome,” said Deb Wilcox, RN, director of Planning and Healthcare Quality for the Vermont Department of Health. “All input will be considered as we finalize the HV2020 publication and shape our direction over the next eight years.”
The plan includes four broad focus areas (A Healthy Life; Providing for Better Health; Behaviors, Environment & Health; and Chronic Disease & Health Conditions), 21 topic areas, and 85 objectives. Measureable benchmarks are established within Healthy Vermonters 2020 and improvement to the health of Vermonters is closely tracked, such as measuring the impact of prevention efforts on chronic disease.
