Triathlon route will stop traffic Aug. 18

On Aug. 18, at approximately 7:36 am, over 2,000 triathlon participants from across the country will begin the USA Triathlon 2012 National Championship in downtown Burlington. The day’s competition includes the Age Group National Championships (Olympic distance: 1.5K swim/40K bike/10K run).

Race participants will bike through Shelburne, which will mean the closure of lanes on Spear Street (southbound), Dorset Street (northbound), and Irish Hill Road (eastbound) Saturday morning, Aug. 18. It is estimated that the bicyclists will be traveling along the Shelburne portion of the course in packs of 75 to 150 competitors until approximately 11:15 am.
