Burlington College President Christine Plunkett has rounded out her executive leadership team with the recent additions of Shelburne resident Randy Rowland as Director of College Advancement and William Breen as Director of Administration and Finance. Rowland and Breen join Dr. Stephen St. Onge as members of Plunkett’s senior administrative team. St. Onge was appointed Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs in June when Plunkett’s tenure as president began.
Rowland, who holds a BA from Middlebury College and an MBA from the University of Vermont, will work closely with President Plunkett in the design and implementation of a comprehensive development plan. His efforts will be focused on increasing visibility and support for the College within and beyond the borders of Vermont and developing effective communications strategies within the College community. Rowland most recently served as the Interim Executive Director of the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association during a time of leadership transition. He has served on numerous boards, including profit, non-profit, school, and government. Rowland resides in Shelburne with his wife, Ginny, and their children Anna, Mark, and Scott.
“I am delighted to join the new leadership team at Burlington College,” says Rowland. “This is an exciting and critical moment in the College’s 40 year history; a new campus, a new senior management team, and a renewed focus on our mission. I look forward to working with President Plunkett to use our new location to engage more fully with the community, grow the student body, increase our educational offerings, preserve our historic buildings and campus, and make Burlington College one of the finest places to study or work in the state.”
In his new role as Director of Administration and Finance, Breen is responsible for oversight of the business and finance, IT, financial aid, facilities, and human resources departments of the College. He holds a BA and MBA from Suffolk University in Boston. Breen joins the College following a lengthy and successful career as an administrator and consultant in the financial services sector, including more than thirty years with Merrill Lynch. He is relocating to the Burlington area from Norwell, Mass., with his wife Donna and children Bill, Matt and Tim.
“I am thrilled to be joining the team at Burlington College,” says Breen. “Perhaps the most exciting challenge is the ongoing renovation of our new facilities. We have much work ahead but our possibilities and opportunities are great. The restoration of our building will take time but our goal is to return it to such a state that it will be a jewel in the Burlington community.”
