Nominations accepted for 2013 Top Ten events

Every year the Vermont Chamber of Commerce presents a list of the state’s best activities for each season. It is now time to nominate your favorite summer and fall activities for the Vermont Top Ten events. The summer and fall Top Ten are published in the Vermont Chamber’s Vermont Vacation Guide, which is the official tourism publication for the State of Vermont.

Top Ten summer events will be scheduled between April 1, 2013 and Aug. 31, 2013. Top Ten fall events will fall occur between Sept. 1, 2013 and Oct. 31, 2013. All events must take place in Vermont. Events are chosen based on a number of criteria, including their appeal to out-of-state visitors as well as Vermonters, and to a diverse audience, including children and families.

An independent panel of judges will review all applications and choose the Top Ten for each season based on the size and past audience of the event, room for growth, as well as geography and dates relative to other events. Top Ten Award winners are chosen to represent the variety of celebrations that define Vermont, in areas such as: arts, history, agriculture, community, and recreation.

Winners will be notified in late September and will receive a digital version of the Top Ten logo to bolster marketing efforts, as well as a framed certificate suitable for display. The Top Ten events list is widely distributed at no extra cost to the winners and often helps event organizers attract visitors and media attention.

Applications must be postmarked by Friday, Sept. 14, 2012. Please contact Publications Assistant Karen Foote at (802) 223-3443 with any questions or to receive a nomination form. She can also be reached at kfoote@vtchamber.com. Forms are also available at www.VisitVT.com on the events calendar link.
