Shelburne participates in fall baseball league

Pitcher Trevor Mitiguy helped his own cause with timely hitting in Shelburne’s first game of the fall ball season last Saturday against South Burlington Blue at Dorset Park.

Shelburne is participating in the regional fall baseball league with a team in each division, 9/10 and 11/12. Eight teams will participate in the league including Vergennes, Richmond, Shelburne, South Burlington (two teams), Burlington American, Williston, and Center City (another Burlington team). Shelburne’s grade 11/12 team opened their season with a 18-6 win over South Burlington Blue on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 4 pm at Dorset Park.

A strong pitching performance by Hank Caswell, who only gave up two hits and two runs through four innings, and clutch hitting from Trevor Mitiguy and Collin Vincent gave Shelburne an early 7-run lead. South Burlington struggled on the mound and gave up 21 walks. The 11/12 team’s next game is schedule for Saturday, Sept. 1 at 2 pm vs. Richmond at South Field in Shelburne.
