Charlotte photographer Sarah McGarghan is offering a win/win opportunity for local parents. She is offering an alternative to indoor school pictures by opening her outdoor studio space for photographing students in a relaxed, natural setting. The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 am-4 pm and Sunday, Sept. 9 from 9 am to 3 pm.
“I truly believe in giving back to the community so a portion of the proceeds from the ‘Bud and Buddies’ sittings will be donated back to an organization within our community. The kids will choose the recipient,” McGarghan explained.
Last fall her “subjects” selected the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force, an organization that protects and feeds starving African wildlife, to be the recipient of her donation. “It was very interesting to see how the kids processed this concept and the steps they went through to reach their personal decision.”
Next weekend, parents and children can choose between the Green Mountain Animal Defenders, an organization that helps to control pet population by offering low cost spay and neuter clinics; the Charlotte Food Shelf to supply goods and gifts specifically to our local teen population; and one other charity that has yet to be determined. Participants will choose their favorite charity by simply writing their selection on a piece of paper while at the sitting. The entries will be tallied at the end of the day Sunday to determine the benefactor of a portion of the proceeds.
In addition to family sittings, McGarghan is offering to do “buddy” shots, and invites students to bring along friends, family, and family pets for a group picture. To set up your appointment, contact McGarghan at 238-0663 or email@example.com.
