Pat Whitehouse, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2012. He was born in Fall River, Mass. on March 18, 1928, son of Clarence and Mae (Fogarty) Whitehouse. At the age of 15, Pat became one of the youngest sailors in the U.S. Navy. After a year of service, he was discharged because of his age. When he turned 17, he re-enlisted with his parents’ permission and served on the USS Cone. Pat married Clarissa Lapierre on Oct. 14, 1950, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She suffered a massive stroke in 1969, and for the next 24 years, Pat devoted himself to caring for her at home. She predeceased him in 1993. Pat had been the owner of Whitehouse Fuels for over 50 years. Among his survivors are his children Kathy and John O’Brien of Shelburne and his grandchildren Kiley, Kent and Elizabeth O’Brien.
