Don’t forget: This evening, Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 pm: Vermont’s own gardening expert Charlie Nardozzi will be speaking at the Pierson Library in a program co-sponsored with the Charlotte Library. The days are growing noticeably shorter and the weather is growing more fall-like. Do you want to know what to do in your garden at this time of year? Charlie will be here to give you some suggestions in his presentation entitled “Extending the gardening season and getting ready for fall.” Don’t miss this fun and informative talk.
Another reminder: The Pierson Library Thursday afternoon Scrabble group is excited to reconvene this afternoon, Thursday, Sept. 20. Scrabble boards will open at 1 pm. Scrabble aficionados are invited to join fellow wordsmiths for a rousing game (or two) of Scrabble. To honor the first game of the new season a yummy, surprise snack will be in store for all players. New members are always welcome. Call the library at 985-5124 for more information.
On Tuesday, Sep. 25, at 6:30 pm the Library is proud to once again co-sponsor with the Charlotte Library another fascinating Green Mountain Audubon Society program titled “Galapagos, The Enchanted Isles.” Presenter Shirley Johnson will give a PowerPoint presentation about her December 2011 trip to the Galapagos Islands highlighting pictures of the birds, plants, animals, and scenery there. Johnson is the board chair of the Birds of Vermont Museum and is on the Board of Directors for Audubon Vermont and Green Mountain Society. She is an avid birder and has traveled extensively on birding trips. Don’t miss this colorful and informative presentation.
On Wednesday, Sept. 26, “So You Want to Become a Certified Therapy Dog Team?” will take place at the Charlotte Library at 7 pm. Steve Reiman, founder and president of Therapy Dogs of Vermont (TDV), Deb Helfrich, TDV’s Director of Training and Certification, and her therapy dog, Cora, will visit the Charlotte Library to share information about the organization. They will highlight the program’s certification process and, most importantly, talk about how therapy dog teams bring joy, offer comfort, and enrich lives. Please leave your pup at home for this meeting. For questions, call the library at 985-5124.
