Baseball starts season 2-0
In high school baseball action Tuesday, Drew Nick pitched one-hit ball over six innings and collected three hits to lead Champlain Valley past South Burlington 8-0. Nick pitched a gem, striking out seven and walking four. Tucker Kohlasch had three hits while Jeff Badger and Curt Echo each had two hits for the Redhawks.
Lacrosse continues roll
Chris Bulla tallied four goals and four assists to lead Champlain Valley past Burlington 18-5 Friday, April 13 in Hinesburg. Christian Goulette netted four goals and one assist, and Charlie Shea contributed three goals to the winning effort. Owen Hudson made five saves for the perfect Redhawks.
Redhawks lose to Rebels
CVU pitcher Alannah Roy went 3-for-3 and had a three-run double in softball action in South Burlington Tuesday, April 17. Laurel Hubbert-Severance had a triple and had three RBIs. But it wasn’t enough. The Redhawks lost to the Rebels 13-7.
CVU lax competes
Champlain Valley blew by Spaulding 15-3 with four goals from Abby Owens, three apiece from Michaela Kiley and Nathalie Nostrand on Wednesday, April 11. Brenna Gorman and Kate Razka each scored twice and Jessica Dudley scored once. Sarah Caffrey made six saves for the Redhawks. On Friday the 13th, Kate Kutchena of Rutland netted five goals to lead Rutland past Champlain Valley 13-8 at home. McKenzie Gunn and Miki Gobeille combined to stop 10 shots for CVU. On Tuesday the girls bounced back strong as they soared over Burlington 13-4. Gorman, Dudley, Kiley, Razka and Caelin Weiss each scored twice and Owen, Thea Weiss, and Lucia Llona also scored. Caffry (eight saves) and Gunn (three saves) split time in net for the 3-1 Redhawks.
Redhawks lose two
The Champlain Valley boys tennis team lost to Essex 3-4 last Friday and South Burlington 6-1 Monday, April 16 at Davis Park. The results are as follows: Singles: Cody Yu, SB def. Girls remain perfect
After six matches, the Champlain Valley girls tennis team remains undefeated. Last week the girls team cruised by Essex 7-0 on Friday and South Burlington 6-1 on Monday.
