At 3 o’clock on Saturday, Sept. 15, as the Shelburne Farms Harvest Festival was drawing to a close, the Charlotte Shelburne Rotary Club dropped the ball. Actually they dropped more than 2,000 balls in their first-ever Golf Ball Drop fundraiser. The balls fell from the bucket loader on a farm tractor and scattered around a specially mowed “green” in the Farms’ hayfield near the Farm Barn, and the winning ball was the one that landed closest to the hole. The winner of the first prize was Renee Audet of Aubuchon Hardware in Shelburne. Second prize went to Linda Goodrich, and third prize went to Michael Healy. Mike Belsky won the prize for the ball that landed farthest from the cup.
