Here’s why I support Joan Lenes for re-election to our state legislature. During my 25 years in Shelburne, I’ve come to know and respect the work of Joan Lenes.
In the legislature, Joan responds to all the people of Shelburne and St. George and is always available to discuss our concerns. For example, I’ve left messages for Joan on issues I care about when she’s been in committee meetings or in session at the State House. She always gets back to me quickly, usually the same day, to let me know the status of a bill, hear my ideas, and discuss her views, sometimes even after a long 15-hour day
Joan knows what business needs and how to get things done. With her husband Helmut, Joan established a very successful local business and also an award winning non-profit.
Joan believes that sustaining open land, protecting the environment and economy,
and quality public education are all important to a strong community and she supports equal rights for all people.
Joan is committed to quality public education at all levels and she is recognized
for her skill working collaboratively on thorny issues — including budgets. That’s why we’ve elected Joan to our town and CVU school boards over the past 20+ years.
And that’s why last year Joan’s legislative colleagues elected her to the UVM Board of Trustees. Coming in at the tail end of serious problems with UVM’s previous president,
Joan was entrusted right away to the important committee overseeing new rules to prevent similar problems in the future.
We need Joan Lenes working for all of us in Montpelier.

P.S. There’s still time to register at the Town Office and early voting has begun.
