Candidate for Vt. State Treasurer holds discussion in Shelburne

Wendy Wilton, candidate for Vermont State Treasurer, will be in Shelburne tonight, Thursday, Oct. 4 from 5:30-7 pm for a special Town Hall meeting titled, “Is Vermont Fiscally Sustainable?” Wilton will discuss Vermont’s fiscal future regarding unfunded liabilities and systemic budget deficits, and how her ideas about fiscal transparency will help solve these problems. This event, held in the Shelburne Town offices, is free and open to the public
Wilton, 53, has served as Rutland City Treasurer for five years and during that time led the effort to reverse a $5 million deficit to a positive fund balance and the first clean audit in 32 years.
A UVM graduate, Wilton grew up in Chittenden County. She was previously employed in the banking industry as a mortgage loan originator, as an adviser for the Vermont Small Business Development Center, and has served in the Vermont State Senate representing Rutland County.
