Lillian Sheldon died at the age of 92 on Oct. 4, 2012 at Wake Robin in Shelburne, Vt. Born in Proctor, Vt. on July 13, 1920 to Melcher and Elsa Aronson, she was Valedictorian, class of 1938. At the University of Vermont, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, class of 1942. She married her classmate and true love, Donald Sheldon, and raised their family in West Springfield, Mass. A resident of the Wake Robin retirement community for 14 years, Lil is known for her caring friendship, ‘poetry that rhymes!’, and skills at pool, bridge, and hand-bell choir. Her family cherishes her sewn and knitted gifts, her special-occasion limericks, and her embracing love. She is survived by her brother Robert Aronson, Rutland, Vt.; sister Carolyn Pinkard, Florida; children Nancy Stone (Ken) Williston, Vt.; Jim Sheldon (Linda), North Carolina; and Jean Marble (David), North Carolina; grandchildren, Eric Stone (Elke), Richmond, Vt.; Laurel Omland, (Kristian), Jericho, Vt.; Jeffrey Sheldon, North Carolina; Jessica Hoyt (Rich), Connecticut; Allison Gilmore (Tim), Virginia; Grady Sheldon (Courtney), California; and Wesley Sheldon (Cristina), New York; cousin Jane Mullen (Jerry), West Bolton, Vt. and seven great-grandchildren. A Circle of Remembrance will be held in Wake Robin’s Community Room Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 3 pm. Lil’s final resting place will be in Proctor cemetery.
