Redhawks rack up two more wins

In a game on Wednesday, Oct. 3, the CVU boys soccer team shut down the previously undefeated Colchester Lakers with a 4-0 win. Shane Haley scored twice for the Redhawks while Max Brown and Jeremy Richard tallied one apiece. Brandon O’Connell made three saves in goal.
In Saturday’s game at Essex, the Redhawks beat the Hornets 2-1 in a double overtime thriller. Richard and Haley scored, both assisted by Joe Castano. O’Connell made five saves in goal. “I was very pleased with our effort and quality of play,” said Coach TJ Mead. “I was proud of my boys.”

Girls soccer beat Burlington and Mt. Mansfield, ties Essex

The Lady Redhawks beat Burlington 3-2 on Wednesday, Oct 3. Two goals by Haliana Burhans and one from Audrey Morehouse secured the win. Goalkeeper Lily Harris made four saves for CVU.
Overtime proved unhelpful in determining a winner in Friday’s game between top girls soccer teams CVU and Essex. The game ended in a stalemate after a full game of tough play. Harris made four saves in goal. In mid-September, the Hornets defeated the Redhawks 3-2.
Two goals from Bronwen Hopwood and one apiece from Catherine Cazayoux and Paige DuBrul led CVU to a 4-0 win over Mt. Mansfield on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Harris and Maddie Turnau combined for three saves in goal for CVU, now 9-1-1.

Field Hockey team loses one, wins one

The CVU field hockey team lost to South Burlington 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 6 in an away game. Evangeline Dunphy made 10 saves for CVU.
On Tuesday, Oct. 9 during a home game vs. Mt. Abraham, CVU’s Robin Powell fired in a goal to secure the Lady Redhawks’ 1-0 victory. Dunphy had four saves for CVU, who moves to 5-4-1 on the season.

CVU shuts out Mt. Anthony

The Redhawks football team beat the Mt. Anthony patriots 41-0 in a home game on Saturday, Oct. 6. Quarterback Bennett Cazayoux had three passing touchdowns and Steele Dubrul had two receiving touchdowns for CVU. Ryan Beaudry had a 28-yard receiving touchdown and Patrick Shea also scored. Max Whitcomb had two field goals toward the win.

Spillane and Eastman lead CVU XC

CVU’s Taylor Spillane took first place Saturday, Oct. 6, at the 22nd Woods Trail Run at Thetford Academy, finishing in a time of 18:57. Spillane became the first girl to finish the Thetford course in under 19 minutes since its reconfiguration five years ago. Autumn Eastman’s 2nd place finish in 19:39 helped CVU secure 2nd place as a team behind Coe-Brown Northwood from N.H. The CVU boys placed 10th as a team.
