Local students recognized by Governor’s Institutes of Vermont

The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont has just released its student graduate list for the summer of 2012.  The 369 students graduating from a Governor’s Institute including Shelburne residents Olivia Hern, Devon Cantor, Georgia Dixon, and Jean-Julien Vandal were nominated by their high schools or mentors and successfully completed a rigorous study program in the subject area of their choice on a Vermont college campus during the summer of 2012.

The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont offers in-depth learning Institutes open to all motivated Vermont young people in Arts, Asian Cultures, Current Issues & Youth Activism, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematical Sciences, and Environmental Science & Technology. The next Institutes will begin accepting applications in December. For more information, talk to your high school counselor or visit www.giv.org.
