The Shelburne/Charlotte Rotary Club is adding a new feature to this year’s annual Halloween parade – a pumpkin carving contest. Winners will be chosen on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Open to residents of Shelburne and Charlotte only, jack-o-lanterns will be judged in three age categories, elementary school, middle school, and high school.
To enter just bring your jack-o-lantern and fill out an application from 12-1 pm on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Shelburne Fire Station. All pumpkins must be carved and lit by either a candle or electric candle. No painted pumpkins allowed!
A panel of five judges will evaluate the pumpkins for most creative, most scary, and most Vermont-like. The winners will be announced immediately after the parade on Sunday around 2:30 pm. All pumpkins will remain “on loan” for three days and will be displayed on the green in front of the old library.
A $25 gift certificate from the Shelburne Supermarket and a gift certificate to the Shelburne Craft School for $50 will be awarded to the winner in each category in all three age groups.
