Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf is beneficiary
Shelburne Vineyard’s 4th Annual Autumn Wine and Food Festival is slated for Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Shelburne Winery and Tasting Room. This year’s Festival is co-sponsored by Vermont Tent Company. This widely anticipated annual event emerged as a way both to celebrate the bounty of Vermont’s specialty wine and food producers and to share the bounty with our neighbors served by the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. The Vineyard hopes to be able to deliver a record contribution this year by topping the previous event record equal to 3,224 pounds of food.
Scheduled from 11 am to 5 pm, the event will celebrate the end of harvest and the beginning of the holiday season by bringing together producers of some of Vermont’s most delectable specialty foods and wines. With free tasting of Shelburne Vineyard wines and wines from Eden Ice Cider, East Shore Vineyard, and Artesano Mead and sampling of tasty specialties from local producers, visitors can plan their holiday meals and gift giving choices. Food sampling will include delicacies like Cavendish Quail and Vermont Smoke and Cure meats, Saratoga Olive Oil, sumptuous cheeses from VT Creamery and Shelburne Farms, freshly baked breads from Red Hen Bakery, and sweets from Blackflower Chocolate.
Admission, tasting, and sampling will be free, and all participating producers will also have products available for sale so visitors can get a head start on holiday shopping. Shelburne Vineyard is asking that those who attend bring along a donation of non-perishable food items to benefit the Food Shelf. Each vendor will also donate a special product offering to a raffle and winners will be drawn throughout the day. Raffle proceeds will also benefit the Food Shelf.
