SCHIP awards over $20,000 to local organizations

Members of the Board of Directors of the Shelburne, Charlotte, Hinesburg Interfaith Projects (SCHIP), a local non-profit, have awarded $23,856 in grants to a variety of local organizations in their recent grant cycle, one of three annually. Since the first grants were given in April 2005, more than $380,000 has been distributed from funds raised through the sale of quality used clothing and home goods at the SCHIP’S Treasure Resale Shop at 5404 Shelburne Road in Shelburne Village.
Grants in the current cycle were awarded to the following organizations:
•Charlotte Food Shelf for winter clothes and fuel
•Hinesburg Community Resource Center for fuel assistance
•CVU Home-School Fund
•Hunger-Free Vermont for student cooking classes
•Shelburne Food Shelf for fuel assistance
•Shelburne Rescue training for dealing with special issues relating to the elderly
•Discretionary funds at Mt. Carmel and St. Jude’s Church
The deadline for the next round of grant applications is Jan. 31, 2013. Grant application forms are available by emailing schipgrant@myfairpoint.net or paper applications are available at the SCHIP’S Treasure Resale Shop, 5404 Shelburne Road in Shelburne Village or at the Town Clerk’s offices in Shelburne, Charlotte and Hinesburg.
