A small bevy of Shelburne’s Wind Ridge Books’ 2012 authors will join the Flying Pig Bookstore’s almost annual panel tribute to local talent Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 pm. On the panel will be Peter A. Gilbert, VPR commentator, Executive Director of the Vermont Humanities Council and author of “I Was Thinking…Travels in the World of Ideas”; Rick Peyser and Bill Mares, authors of “Brewing Change, Behind the Bean at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters”; Steven Metz, author of “Exotic Tails, A Veterinarian’s Journey”; and Helena Nicolay, author of “The Squirrel Diaries, Tales from a Wildlife Rehabilitator.”
Flying Pig Bookstore’s co-owner Josie Leavitt said,” As an independent bookstore, it’s just a great way to end our year–celebrating Vermont authors with our local publisher. We are thrilled to be able to support such lovely talent.”
Wind Ridge Books’ editor Lin Stone commented, “This event truly supports local talent and economies. Everyone benefits–the writers, the non-profit organizations to which Wind Ridge and the authors donate a percentage of net profits and/or royalties from the sale of the books, and the two local businesses–The Flying Pig and Wind Ridge – with dozens of area residents as employees. And of course, the premier benefit of buying and reading these books is the opportunity to hear the unique voices of Vermonters through their stories and book pages.”
Panel members will read short excerpts from their books followed by audience Q & A and book signings. Wine and cheese will be served. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 985-3091.
