It’s the Holiday Stroll tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 30 Pierson Library will be open until 8 pm Friday evening. Kids can come to the library to decorate a holiday ornament, following the tree lighting ceremony on the village green. Santa will be upstairs in the old Town Hall, along with refreshments, courtesy of Shelburne Parks and Recreation. We invite you to join in the festivities of this memorable Shelburne tradition.
Adult and Teen Craft Workshops: The Pierson Library is again teaming up with the Charlotte Library to offer several seasonal teen and adult craft workshops. On Saturday, Dec. 1 the Charlotte Library will host a winter card-making workshop with expert guidance from crafter Eliza Bedell. This workshop will be held from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the Charlotte Library. The workshop will be repeated on Monday, Dec. 3 from noon to 1 pm, and on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Charlotte Library. On Thursday, Dec. 6, the Pierson Library will host an ornament making workshop with Shelburne’s own DIY expert Joanne Palmisano from 6 to 7:30 pm. Autographed copies of Joanne’s book “Salvage Secret” will be available to purchase at this workshop. All supplies and tools, as well as design advice will be provided for participants, along with refreshments to keep the creative juices flowing. Call the Charlotte Library at 425-3864 or the Pierson Library at 985-5124 to register for any or all of these workshops.
Upcoming programs in the Pierson Library youth area: On Thursday afternoons you can once again stop in to the library to watch a movie and enjoy a free snack with friends and family. We will kick off things this afternoon, Thursday November 29 with a screening of Disney Pixar’s “Brave,” rated PG. All movies will begin at 3:15. Next week’s feature on Thursday, December 6, will be “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” also rated PG.
The annual Holiday Book and Food Donation Our basket for Holiday book and food donations has appeared once again in the library lobby, next to the circulation desk. This is the place to donate non-perishable food items and new children’s and teen books for the local food shelf. If you wish to leave youth books for the food shelf in the book drop please attach a note indicating that they are “Holiday Donations.” Otherwise we’ll pass them along to the Friends of the Library book sale. Only new books will be accepted for the food shelf. Please do not leave book donations, either for the food shelf or for the Friends, outside of the library. Vermont weather can change in minutes and your kind donations can be ruined. Thanks so much for your generosity.
Bottle Drive Bin: Fundraiser to help CVU students! When you first enter Pierson Library, you will see a blue recycle bin on the bench next to the book drop. This bin is to collect redeemable bottle donations in support of CVU students wanting to travel to England, Ireland, and Wales in April 2013. Please help them to reach their goal.
