Mary B. Leonard – Shelburne

Mary B. Leonard, 80, of Shelburne, died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 in Burlington Health and Rehab in Burlington. She was born in Rochester, N.Y. on Oct.3,1932, the daughter of the late Linn and Martha Bowman. Mary, known as Bambi to her classmates and family, attended Pittsford Central School in Pittsford, N.Y. She continued her education at UVM in Burlington. Mary was active in writing, organic gardening, long walks, and yoga. She dedicated her life to helping others and was an advocate for the environment. Her 28 years in Shelburne has generated a circle of friends who have enriched her life. Mary is survived by her former husband, Thomas C. Leonard; three children, Wanda and Frank, Karen, Thomas Jr. and Robin, two grandsons, Thomas III and Jeremyah; five grand kitties, Smudgy, Amber, Juliet, Robin hood, and Buzzy and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
