HANDS (Helping and Nurturing Diverse Seniors) will provide a delivered meal and a sit-down dinner again this year on Christmas Day. “We love being able to have a place for people to gather together on Christmas,” explained HANDS Director Megan Humphrey. “We also know that some people would rather have a meal delivered to their home,” she continued. The free 8th Annual Holiday Dinner for seniors will be held on Christmas Day at 1 pm at Heineberg Senior Center in Burlington with dinner and live entertainment. To reserve the free meal (either ham or vegetarian lasagna) and transportation or to have a meal delivered, please call Champlain Valley Agency on Aging at 865-0360 by Dec. 14. Last year, 300 meals and gift bags were delivered or served and “we’re hoping seniors will call the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging to reserve a meal,” Humphrey mentioned.
Burlington School Department, Champlain Valley Agency on Aging, and Temple Sinai, among many others, coordinate to make the day a success. “We collaborate with lots of people and are so thankful for the volunteer help and donations,” Humphrey said.
