SCS food drive, walk supports community

Teachers from the Believe and Treehouse teams, a third grade and a kindergarten team respectively, from Shelburne Community School organized a food drive and walk from the school to the Shelburne Food Shelf last Thursday morning. Above, 81 kids and eight adults with lots of food stand outside the Shelburne Food Shelf. The food drive connects to the student’s unit of study on community. The teachers taught the children to know the place they call home and to think about what it means to be a part of a community. In response, the students collected food to give to a neighbor during the holidays. Lesson learned. Photo by Vasanthi Meyette
