Shelburne musician joins Green Mountain Mahler Festival Orchestra and Chorus Jan. 1

Shelburne resident and violinist Shirley Gedeon will perform again with The Green Mountain Mahler Festival Orchestra and Chorus in its third annual Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at 3 pm. Founded in 2002, the festival is dedicated to providing an opportunity for local musicians and audiences to experience and enjoy the grand orchestral works of Mahler and the other great Romantic composers. Gedeon explains, “performing on New Year’s Day hits all four of my New Year’s resolutions: socialize more, play music, give back to the community, and have fun!”
The New Year’s Day concert will take place in the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester. Conductor Daniel Bruce will lead the Green Mountain Mahler Festival Orchestra and Chorus along with vocal soloists Allison Mills, Linda Radtke, Kevin Ginter and Erik Kroncke in this joyous New Year’s Day performance of one of Beethoven’s most beloved works.
