Bissonettes lead CVU to first basketball win
The Champlain Valley Union boys basketball team opened their season with three straight losses without prolific scorer Brad Bissonette. CVU kicked off the season with a 61-55 loss to Vergennes, a 79-48 loss to Missisquoi, and another 52-44 loss to Vergennes. Back from an illness, Bissonette scored 19 points on Tuesday night to lead CVU past Burlington 50-40 in basketball action at Buck Hard Gym. Scott Bissonette poured in 14.
Redhawks fly over Rebels
In the first ice hockey game of the Beech Tournament, CVU dominated South Burlington 5-2 earning a spot in the championship game versus Colchester on Friday, Dec. 21 at Leddy Park in Burlington.
Gymnasts strut stuff at SB Invitational
The Champlain Valley Union gymnastics team fared well at the Holiday Invitational at South Burlington on Saturday, Dec. 15. The results are as follows:
Freshman
Beam: Jessie Johnson, 7.8
Floor: Jackie Casson, 7.6
Junior
Vault: Megan Nick, 8.925
Bars: Sarah Kinsley, 8.8
Beam: Megan Nick, 9.0
Floor: Megan Nick, 9.25

Redhawk wrestlers dominate first home meet
Champlain Valley wrestlers defeated Vergennes 66-6 in the first home meet of the season on Dec. 11. Despite missing 40 percent of the Redhawk’s starting lineup, the CVU wrestlers defeated North Country 52-32 but fell to St. Johnsbury 42-32 on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
