Marie B. Whitbeck of Shelburne received Downs Rachlin Martin (DRM) PLLC’s Diane R. Lynch Distinguished Service Award at the law firm’s holiday party in early December. Whitbeck is a legal nurse consultant and paralegal manager in DRM’s Burlington office.
“Clients often return to DRM years later just to say hello to her. She’s an exceptional employee, co-worker, and friend, her laugh is contagious, and her door is always open,” said Bob Luce, a director of the firm whose practice concentrates on the representation of brain injury and spinal cord injury victims and their families. “Marie’s dedication and contributions play a large part in the welcoming atmosphere and the consummate success of DRM.”
Whitbeck graduated from Keuka College with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and began her career in medical and pediatric oncology at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Before joining DRM in 1990, she served as a legal nurse consultant with the firm Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker in the area of medical malpractice.
Established in 2000 to honor the firm’s 50th anniversary and in memory of Lynch, a long-serving human resources coordinator who died of cancer, the award is given each year to a former or current employee who has demonstrated loyalty, dedication, energy, drive, selflessness, good nature, humor, and commitment.
The award recognized Whitbeck for her extraordinary dedication to client service and her sincere and wholehearted commitment to the success of DRM and its employees. For more details visit www.drm.com.
