M. Therese L’Esperance, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Charlotte, died on Nov. 28, 2012. She was the youngest daughter of Leonidas and Melina (Rondeau) LaBerge of Charlotte. The LaBerge Farm was on the corner of Greenbush Road and Thompson Point Road, where Therese grew up with nine brothers and sisters: Rene LaBerge, Pete LaBerge of Charlotte, Joe LaBerge, Lucien LaBerge, Raymond LaBerge of Charlotte, Alice McDurfee of Charlotte, Simone Rondeau, Robert LaBerge of Charlotte, and Leo LaBerge. The LaBerge children attended school in the one-room schoolhouse on the corner of Thompson Point and Lake Roads. Therese finished high school at St. Mary’s in three years, and graduated with the highest grades in the 40-school district. Hard work, and caring for a farm family of 12 prepared her for a new life with her love, Thomas A. L’Esperance. The courtship was not a long one, Therese’s older brothers, Raymond and Lucien, planned a triple wedding for Nov. 28, 1935. The three couples were all together on their 50th anniversaries. Seventy-seven years to the day, Therese joined Tommy, Lucien, Doris, Marie and Raymond. Among her survivors are Roy and Linda L’Esperance of Shelburne. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ben, Allie, Kristen, Jason, Apryl, Sean, Michele, Candy, Linda, Sonja, Ronald, and Tommy who will miss their “Nana’s” open arms. A memorial service for Therese will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Charlotte on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 2 pm.
