Comediennes Josie Leavitt, Tracie Spencer, Autumn Spencer, and Sue Schmidt team up for an unforgettable laugh-fest, presented in the intimate setting of FlynnSpace, to raise scholarships for The Joe Shook Scholarship Fund, sending campers with disabilities to camp at Partners In Adventure (PIA), on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7 pm.
In June 2011, Partners In Adventure lost a dear friend, Joe Shook, at the age of 20. Joe’s enjoyment of all the programs that PIA had to offer was equaled by the pleasure he gave with his presence. A special scholarship fund, The Joe Shook Scholarship Fund, is used for tuition to send campers to PIA. Joe had a huge sense of humor. He would have loved having a comedy night in his honor!
Leavitt has been performing comedy for longer than she can remember. She teaches stand up at the FlynnSpace and select Vermont correctional facilities. She co-owns the Flying Pig Bookstore and writes a humor column, “Leavitty,” for a local paper. Schmidt burst on the comedy scene in 2012 and now performs regularly throughout Vermont and New England. She lives in Burlington with her family. Tracie Spencer has also been making people laugh throughout the Burlington area for a number of years. Autumn Spencer will make her debut appearance at the “All Shook Up Comedy Night.”
Partners In Adventure Inc is a non-profit organization that offers nine weeks of camps and year-round social programs for children and young adults, ages 7 through 25, partnered with their non-disabled peers. For more information about PIA visit www.partnersinadventure.org.
