Vermont Symphony Orchestra music director and conductor Jaime Laredo will lead the orchestra in the upcoming Masterworks Series concert entitled “Youth and Beauty.” Performances will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Flynn Center in Burlington at 8 pm and Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland at 3 pm as part of the Sunday Matinee Series.
Among other talented Vermont musicians to join the orchestra are Sofia Hirsch, violin, of Shelburne and William Tilley, bass, of Charlotte.
A pre-concert discussion, “Musically Speaking,” moderated by Vermont Public Radio host Walter Parker will be held at 7 pm, free for members of the audience. The discussion will feature Jaime Laredo, Cicely Parnas, and some of the visual artists, providing entertaining insight into the music, composers, musicians, and paintings.
