An evening of Vaudeville and vintage burlesque
|April 27, 2012||Filled under Arts & Entertainment||
The tang of burlesque is rampant in this always-evolving theatrical presentation filled with rip-roaring musical numbers, naughty innuendos, cunning commentary and dazzling dancehall floozies.
Take a journey out of time with Max, the foolhardy emcee, a dozen exquisite dancing ladies, and a motley troupe of satirists all backed by a rowdy and rollicking house orchestra. With saucy cigar girls, decorous decadence and Weimar style wit, this unique troupe of degenerates guarantees a playful, sassy cabaret featuring burlesque and vaudeville at its very best.
Just back from her maiden voyage across the pond, the Spielpalast Cabaret wet her feet (and her whistle) at Edinburgh Scotland’s Fringe Theater Festival last summer.
Now, Spielpalast Cabaret returns to the heart of Burlington to transform Contois Auditorium at City Hall into a raucous theater of the absurd for nine performances on May 11-13, 18, 19 and 24-26. And, for those looking for a more titillating experience, the ever popular scandalous version of the show can be seen: May 13 at 8 pm and May 19 at 11 pm. All shows will include a cocktail hour featuring pre-show entertainment and a cash bar beginning one hour prior to show time, with the exception of the 11 pm show on May 19.
Tickets for the 2012 production of “Spielpalast Cabaret” are $24 Advance/ $27 day of show and are available through the Flynn Regional Box Office at 153 Main Street in Burlington, (802)86-FLYNN, or www.flynntix.org. Pending availability, tickets will also be available for sale at the venue on the night of the show, beginning one hour prior to show time. And remember, Grandma and Grandpa will love the show, but leave the kiddies at home!
